Jersey 2008 Stamp Programme Announced

Jersey Post have announced their stamp programme for 2008. A total of twelve issues will take place throughout the year.
Details as follows:
15th January 2008, Jersey - Signals
The first stamp issue released in 2008 will feature a selection of the meteorological and navigational signals used in Jersey and celebrates the 300th anniversary of the Fort Regent Signal Station.

14th February 2008, Europa - The Letter.
Jersey Post’s interpretation of PostEurop’s 2008 theme to promote writing letters depicts four different styles of hand written letters - from the young to the old - in a variety of calligraphic styles. The Europa logo will be depicted on two stamps within the set.

3th March 2008, Jersey Festivals - Jersey Eisteddfod Centenary.
The Creative Arts - Drama, Speech, Music, Photography, Dance, Painting, Needlecrafts and Flower Arranging - are all depicted on the five stamps.

8th April 2008, Jersey Transport - Buses II.
Continuing the Jersey Transport series, six stamps and a separate Miniature Sheet containing one stamp in a cohesive design will be issued featuring seven more buses seen on Jersey roads from the 1920s to recent times.

18th May 2008, Jersey Cows - World Jersey Cattle Bureau.
To mark the annual Conference of the ‘World Jersey Cattle Bureau’ being held in Jersey in 2008, a Miniature sheet containing one stamp depicting a Jersey bull will be issued.

20th May 2008, Jersey Orchids VI.
A further set of stamps and separate Miniature Sheet in the highly popular series featuring award winning hybrid orchids, bred at the Eric Young Orchid Foundation in Jersey, will be released.

24th June 2008, Jersey Naval Connections II - Visiting Naval Vessels.
A selection of British Royal Naval vessels which have visited Jersey and its waters will be depicted on the stamps whilst a Prestige Booklet provides information and illustrations of many of the vessels that have visited Jersey over the years.

20th August 2008, Jersey - Farm Animals.
To mark the 175th anniversary of the Royal Jersey Agricultural & Horticultural Society, a set of five non-value indicator self adhesive stamps will be released to replace ‘Jersey Offshore Reefs’ NVI self-adhesive stamps which have been on sale since 2003.

19th October 2008, Jersey Birdlife II - Migrating Birds.
The second set in the new Birdlife series features various groups of birds which migrate to Jersey each year and are seen flying around Jersey’s town and countryside.

14th November 2008, 60th Birthday HRH The Prince of Wales.
One stamp and a separate Souvenir Miniature Sheet will be released to mark the 60th Birthday of HRH The Prince of Wales. After twelve months this stamp will form part of the current Definitive stamp series.
