St. Helena Post Office have launched an issue celebrating ‘firsts’ connected with the Atlantic.
The set of four stamps will also be available as a first day cover.
The stamps feature the following:-
25p - 1819 SS Savannah
First steamship to cross the Atlantic
40p - 1919 Alcock & Brown
First aeroplane to cross the Atlantic
45p - 1923 Alain Gebault
First east / west solo sailing across the Atlantic
£1.20 - 1927 Charles Lindberg
First solo flight across the Atlantic
The stamps will be on sale from 6th November 2007
